Rusty Jewett, Ph.D.
Founder
Technical manufacturing manager with over 25 years of direct P&L responsibility in VP, CTO, CEO or Board of Director service. Particularly interested in renewable and sustainable energy conversion hardware and systems. More than 15 patents issued or in process.
Rusty began his professional career in the semiconductor industry, first at a research fab and later at Lam Research, (Nasdaq: LRCX), a Fortune 100 company that makes processing equipment. Later, he led several tech start ups to successful exits including Litmas (now part of Advanced Energy, Nasdaq: AEIS) and Sunpower, Inc. (now part of Ametek, NYSE: AME). Sunpower’s Stirling technology is a key part of NASA’s remote power strategy and was the root of much of the early Stirling work at Sencera. He has worked on renewable energy conversion technologies for the past two decades.
Education:
Ph.D. Nuclear Engineering, Plasma Physics (University of New Mexico)
B.S. Physics (University of North Carolina)

Steve Pugh
VP of Engineering
Mechanical product development manager with over 30 years of design and manufacturing experience focused on the renewable energy space. Skill set encompasses proficiency in Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) and stress analysis. His group has produced several commercial products designed for manufacturability, high reliability and cost-effectiveness. 15 patents issued, with 3 in process.
Education:
B.S. Engineering (The Citadel)
Graduate school, Engineering Science and Mechanics (Virginia Tech)
Rafael Anson
European Operations
Rafael developed a unique Solar Thermal Technology that led to the founding of two companies. Since 2018, he has served as CEO of Thermal Cooling Technology (Kalido) and has been actively involved with Sencera since 2014. Previously, he held the roles of CTO and later Technical Advisor at Quadsun Energy in India. From 2010 to 2014, he was the CTO at Renovalia Energy, where he licensed SunPower’s Stirling technology and collaborated with industry leaders Rusty and Steve. Prior to that, he served as Director for Europe at Infinia Corporation, a Stirling energy company. Earlier in his career, he worked as Technical Manager for several solar PV startups between 2003 and 2007.
